Free Gas

FREE GAS! Did that get your attention? It certainly got mine! Free gas offers are the latest "gimmicks" being used in corporate marketing campaigns today. With gas prices rising to $4 a gallon and working its way up to $5 a gallon, the words "Free Gas" are striking the attention of many people. I just did a little research online and found a ton of different ways for people to get free gas.

The first offer I came across was for a company that was willing to pay for your car and give you free gas. The catch is that they use your car as a bulletin board on wheels by wrapping your car in their company logos and advertisements. This allows the business to advertise for only pennies per day and it helps the driver with the cost of gas. The requirements to qualify and be accepted into this program are:

. You must drive at least 1,000+ miles a month.

. Your car must be in good condition cosmetically.

. You must have valid auto insurance on your car.

. You have to be the registered owner of the car to be able to sign up for the program.

. You have to show proof that you have a good driving record.

. You must keep the door magnets on the vehicle at all times, unless, you are washing your car.

. You will be responsible for all the advertisements that are put on your car.

. You will have to provide proof of 1,000+ miles a month are being driven.

This is a winning situation in my eyes. Sign me up! I would have no problem driving around town with an advertisement on my car and getting free gas for it. It means more money in my pocket.

"Gas Comes Standard" is another marketing trend that many car manufacturers are using to get people to buy a new car. Car manufacturers are offering one year of free gas when you purchase a new car. As always, there are restrictions that apply to these offers, so make sure to read the fine print. Basically, they are only distributing prepaid gas cards that are redeemable at specific gas stations. The value of the card is decided on by assuming that the average person will drive 12,000 miles per year and then dividing that by the advertised mpg on the model of your car, then multiplying by the current gas price. So, if your buy a car that gets 20 mpg, then that would mean that you would purchase approximately 600 gallons of gasoline in a year. If you were to multiply that by $4 per gallon, you would receive a gas card redeemable for $2,400.00. Therefore, if you drive more than 12,000 miles a year, you will not actually receive a full year of free gas. In addition, if gas prices go up to $5.00 per gallon, you would also not receive the difference in price for the year of "free gas". All-in-all though, every little bit helps! So, it is still a great promotion.

Another fun gimmick I found for free gas this summer will be helpful to me when planning my summer vacation. Many people, like me, prefer to take car trips to save in the high cost of airfare, therefore many travel websites are also offering free gas promotions with the purchase of travel packages on their websites. Most of these offers are through mail-in rebates that are redeemable once your trip is completed. This seems like a great bonus when planning a roadtrip! I mean, what could be better than getting a free tank of gas on a road trip?

As the price of gas keeps rising, I plan to keep looking for new ways to qualify for FREE GAS! I think a new car and a road trip sounds like a great place to start, don't you?
